I've heard that harddrives that are unplugged incorrectly in the MAC may take a longer time to connect to the computer, due to the Mac trying to "fix" the drive. I tried checking System Information and was able to see the drive connected via USB. It would appear for like a few seconds and then disappear for a while. I unplugged the external harddrive and plugged it back in and this time it's rarely showing up in Disk Utility. I feel like I may have made the situation worse. I have tried running First Aid when the drive appeared in disk utility, but this problem of mounting and unmounting still occurred. I was also able to see it in Disk Utility. Hey everyone, I'm having a tough time trying to get my Mac to detect my external harddrive (WD 4TB Elements Harddrive).īefore, it would mount, then unmount, and after a while it would mount again and I could use the harddrive just fine.
